From Milan to Mazzo di Rho: how to get here
The standard route is the A50 western ring road, Pero exit (or Cusago for those coming from the south-west). Fourteen kilometres from the centre, 20 minutes outside the morning and evening peaks. From north-western Milan (San Siro, Lampugnano) you can skip the ring road and follow SS33 Sempione, slightly longer with similar travel times. For those arriving from outside Milan by train, Rho FS is a hub on both suburban and regional lines, well served from both Milano Centrale and Cadorna.
Milan and its restricted zones
Milan’s Area B (covering almost the entire municipal territory) and Area C (the inner Bastioni ring) restrict increasing categories of vehicles — Euro 5 diesel during restricted hours, some Euro 4 vehicles, Euro 3 commercial categories. The result is that many Milan residents own a perfectly functional car that is confined to the suburban perimeter. Mazzo di Rho lies outside both zones: the car can drive without restrictions from your driveway all the way to Mazzo, even if it can’t re-enter Milan at certain hours. For many this turns an administrative restriction into a concrete reason to choose a workshop outside the city.
Who Tommy By makes most sense for in Milan
- Owners of Area B-restricted vehicles looking for a quality workshop they can actually reach
- Residents of the north-western quadrant with their car naturally “on the way” toward the west
- Customers wanting workshop + body shop in the same building, avoiding the typical shuttling between separate facilities in Milan
- Those looking for water-based oven painting, rarely offered by city workshops due to space and environmental constraints
