Kia workshop and body shop

Kia shares most of its mechanical content with sister brand Hyundai and follows the same engineering philosophy: high reliability, low running costs and a long manufacturer's warranty (7 years / 150,000 km on Kia, against the standard 5 years on Hyundai). We work across the range — Picanto, Stonic, Niro (Hybrid and Electric), Sportage (including Hybrid and PHEV) and the EV6 electric on the 800V E-GMP platform. Tommy By is an independent multi-brand workshop: under EU Regulation 461/2010 (Block Exemption), the Kia 7-year warranty stays valid when you service here, provided the work is carried out at the prescribed intervals, with parts of equivalent quality and the booklet stamped.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Kia

Do services here keep the 7-year / 150,000 km Kia warranty intact?

Yes. The Kia 7-year warranty stays valid as long as the maintenance booklet is updated at the prescribed intervals, with original parts or certified equivalents. There is no requirement to service at an authorised dealer: EU Regulation 461/2010 protects that right. We carry out the scheduled service and stamp the booklet correctly.

The Kia EV6 charges at 800V — does it need any special workshop precautions?

The 800V E-GMP platform shared with the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and 6 can be handled with compatible diagnostic equipment. For high-voltage interventions (HV battery cell replacement, inverter repairs) we follow the standard HV safety protocols: system isolation, capacitor discharge waiting time and dedicated personal protective equipment. Standard maintenance (filters, brakes, tyres, climate control, battery coolant) is carried out as a matter of routine.

Do you handle the iVOS dual-clutch gearbox and the Kia HEV / PHEV system?

Yes. The 7DCT iVOS is the dual-clutch gearbox shared with Hyundai (fitted to the Ceed, Sportage and Niro). We carry out the gearbox oil change at the prescribed intervals and diagnose adaptations after any related work. For the HEV / PHEV system we run HV battery checks and inverter / electric motor diagnostics with compatible equipment.
