Renault workshop and body shop

Renault is one of the most familiar brands in Italian households, particularly through the Clio, Captur and Mégane. In recent years the line-up has tilted strongly towards the E-Tech full hybrids, a hybrid technology featuring twin electric motors and a multimode transmission that calls for specific (CLIP-compatible) diagnostic equipment. We work across the full Renault catalogue, from older Clio II and III cars to the latest Captur E-Tech hybrids and the Kangoo, Trafic and Master commercial vehicles. Tommy By is an independent multi-brand workshop: under EU Regulation 461/2010 (Block Exemption), the Renault manufacturer's warranty stays valid when you service here, with parts of equivalent quality and the booklet stamped.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Renault

Do you handle the E-Tech full hybrid and plug-in system with the multimode gearbox?

Yes. E-Tech is a parallel hybrid set-up with two electric motors and a clutchless multimode gearbox (engagements controlled electronically). Conceptually it is close to Toyota's HSD, but the gearbox is Renault-specific and the diagnostic logic differs. We service E-Tech models to Renault's manual intervals and verify the state of health of the HV battery as part of the check.

Do you handle the EDC dual-clutch gearbox?

Yes. The EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) is the Getrag 6DCT fitted to the Clio, Captur and Mégane. We renew the gearbox oil at the prescribed intervals to prevent cold-start slipping and diagnose adaptations after any related work. On first-generation EDC gearboxes (Clio IV, Mégane III) we check the clutch sensors, which tend to be the first failure point.

Do you also work on Dacia, Renault Trafic and Master vans?

Yes. Dacia shares most of its mechanicals with Renault and has its own dedicated page. For the Trafic and Master we handle scheduled services, brakes, tyres and diagnostics. On special-bodied vans (refrigeration units, flatbed conversions) we cover the automotive side and leave the conversion-specific work to the original equipment supplier.
